Mount Mary University (MMU) and 51视频 ( 51视频) have established a partnership for graduates of 51视频 to take the  at MMU. This agreement facilitates seamless academic pathways for 51视频 undergraduate students to pursue and complete master鈥檚 programs at MMU, offering fully online options and credit transfer opportunities. 

MMU offers fully online master鈥檚 programs tailored to accommodate Notre Dame of Maryland undergraduate students, allowing the transfer of up to 12 credits from 51视频 undergraduate programs into the relevant MMU master鈥檚 program. This initiative streamlines the transition to graduate studies, promotes academic excellence, and supports workforce development in specialized fields. 

Why Pursue a Master of Social Work Degree?

The Master of Social Work at Mount Mary offers two specialty tracks: clinical and child & family. Additionally, you can earn an optional certificate in forensic social work or veterinary social work. Both tracks offer student-centered learning experiences that integrate rigorous academics and experiential classroom learning with supervised clinical training. To accommodate all student types, schedules and lifestyles, this curriculum is offered fully online. 

Program Goals

Intrinsic to the mission of the MSW program is the ultimate goal of social and economic justice. The goals of the MSW social work program are to:  

  • Prepare students for advanced social work practice including engagement, assessment, intervention and evaluation through clinical social work or child & family social work.  
  • Prepare students to practice social work with respect for diversity and difference.  
  • Enable students to understand and advance human rights and racial, social, economic, and environmental justice.  
  • Prepare students to understand frameworks of ethical decision making and how to apply principles of critical thinking in practice, research, and policy arenas.  
  • Prepare students to engage in practice informed research. 
Application Requirements

To be eligible for the Mount Mary University Master of Social Work program, you must meet the following requirements:   

  • Have a bachelor鈥檚 degree from a regionally accredited college or university.   
  • Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in most recent 60 credits of coursework. Probationary admission can be considered.   
  • A statistics course: 200 level or higher, with a grade of C or better (preferred not required).   
  • Demonstration of 24 credit hours of liberal studies including: human biology or social sciences (psychology, sociology, anthropology, economics, women鈥檚 studies, political science).
