BALTIMORE, Md. – Damozel, a creative literary magazine produced annually by 51ÊÓƵ’s English Department, has received its fourth straight award for creative excellence by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
A panel of national judges honored the with the ranking of Excellent in . The REALM Awards celebrate high-quality literary magazines created by students with the support of their educators. In the 2025 competition, more than 450 publications were submitted for consideration by schools from 44 states and six countries.
Founded in 1932, Damozel has a long history as 51ÊÓƵ’s student-run magazine showcasing creative writing, art, and photography by current students, alumni, and faculty. The latest issue was produced by literary editors Amanda Grant ’28, Hailey Guerrier ’26, Holly Hand ’25, Chelsea Martin ’25, and Kameron Woodrum ’27; alumna editor and advisor, Katie Cardinal ’20; and faculty sponsor Dr. Jeana DelRosso.
The 2025-26 edition of Damozel is expected to be released late in the spring semester. Submissions should be sent to damozelndmu@gmail.com, and those submitting are asked to include their first and last name, class year, major, the title of the work and the submission type. Poetry, short stories or non-fiction essays should be sent as a Word document or PDF file. Images or artwork should be sent as a .jpeg, .jpg or .png file.
